With reference to the request of the
Lords Commissioners of the Treasury in their letter to the
Colonial Office of the 5th. of last June to be informed now it
is that $1.00 Notes of the Hongkong and Shangavi Banking Corpora-
-tion should still be in circulation to any extent, I have the
nonour to refer you to Section 12 (2) of Ordinance llo. 2 of
1666, which follows exactly the wording of the draft clause
forwarded to this Government in Lord Kimberley's Despach No.
163 of the 27th. July, 1882, and reads:-
ME RIGHT HONOURABLE
"Without prejudice to the conditional privilege
now possessed by the Company of issuing and re- -issuing from the head office a limited number
